2012 Blog #10 – Rollercoaster Week!

It’s been a good but stressful week. We’re finally wrapping up our second and final Future Lions entry and it has been such a good experience working on it. This week has been such an emotional rollercoaster ride though – i’m just so glad that i’ve gotten to the end of the week because everything is coming together and i’m in a positive mood!

So, basically in the past two weeks i’ve been sick with a cold, hardcore migraines, fevers alongside assignments and stressing over whether things are happening, classwork and just freaking out in general on whether or not things are going to get done on time. I’m extremely excited about our second future lions entry – we were working on a video and drawing up everything for it – but then we decided to cut the video and do more drawings and shove it all in a .pdf because it complimented our brand (Copic) more. I think it was the better choice in the end, because now we get to highlight the range of colours in our brand as opposed to what would have ended up being a minimalistic video.

I think the turning point in the week happened wednesday night – I’d hardly been feeling like my normal optimistic self the whole week but, when I started watching motivation videos – man, I feel pumped and completely back on track! If you haven’t watched it already, one of the bloggers that inspires me most, Gala Darling did an amazing talk for TED on Radical Self Love. Saw heaps of little Radical Self Love scrapbooks and it inspired me to start a new one. Bought myself a new Moleskin  (Lego Style) and now I can’t wait to fill the pages; my last scrapbook from Europe is a Moleskin too and its full of amazing stuff. This scrapbook is gonna’ remind me of all the positive things and amazing experiences i’ll be having over the next couple of months in Melbourne!

I caught up with one of my besties (that’s her in the photo, yo!) today too. I’ve heard of this bar in a shifty chinatown alleyway called Croft Institute and i’m dying to visit it. We found the place today (how amazing does the street art look?!) but weren’t able to go inside, as it did open for another hour. Definitely put on my list of places I need to visit! Hope you’ve been having an amazing week so far. And, hope you look forward to a future lions post coming soon, i’m finally gonna’ explain and show our campaigns!

Lots of Love,

Advertising Wrap-Up #17 – Let’s add some Drama!

It has been WAY too long since I did an Advertising related post. So, let’s casually procrastinate together and see what’s been cool and interesting in the past couple of months!

Everyone is currently raving about pressing this button. TNT Channel in Belgium.

So, i’m currently working on Copic as my brand for Future Lions and a while back in Denmark I saw my classmate watching this. Linked my creative partner to it because it was “inspirational”. I have never watched it fully to the end. IT IS SO GROSS!

L’Odyssee de Cartier, is one of the most beautiful advertisements i’ve ever seen.

Different ways of getting your portfolio out: The Creative Ransom and Portfolio’s in Bathrooms.

Smart Argentina has a really cool twitter feed. Press “j” to scroll down.

Go Art Director Go – Words of encouragement from Copywriters is getting pretty popular in my books.

One Tiny Hand is making me laugh a whole heap.

Wander – I still have no idea what it is. But they have a hilarious pointless scoreboard. To get points you can click the cow, like on FB or share on twitter.

And to finish off this post, I leave you with Caine’s Arcade. A heartwarming story involving a flash mob. And when I say flash mob, I hope you know what I mean – ’cause I clearly don’t mean a group of flashers running down the street…OR DO I? Yeah, no. Ha-ha.

Lots of Love,

2012 Blog #9 – Easter Holidays, Copic time! :D

Working on Copics entry for Future Lions. We’re just looking through different styles and stuff now (fashion design vs. architectural vs. comic) – just rough sketches/mockups/tracings, etc. I’m really enjoying working on this – hopefully we’ll come up with something cool for our video presentation.

Cool marker organisation, yeah? Ha-ha. That photo is outdated by an hour actually; I just bought two new ones when I went out to get some more marker paper. It’s not good to use normal paper because it bleeds and uses up more of the ink; marker paper is also much smoother.

Good way to start the Easter holidays! Hope you’re having a good one. :)
